The Finland Chamber of Commerce has appointed Galina Zukova (Bélot Malan & Associés, Paris) (CV) as new FAI Board member, starting from 1 June 2017. Following Christopher R. Seppälä’s (White & Case, Paris) expressed wish to step down from the Board at the end of May 2017, the Finland Chamber of Commerce has decided to appoint a foreign member to complete the composition of the Board.
In accordance with Article 2.1 of Appendix I to the Arbitration Rules and the Rules for Expedited Arbitration of the Finland Chamber of Commerce, the Board shall consist of a Chair, a maximum of three Vice-Chairs and a maximum of twelve additional members. The Board shall include both Finnish and non-Finnish nationals. Galina Zukova’s diverse work background adds valuable international experience and insight to the Board, which are increasingly important due to the growth in the number of international cases. In 2016, the share of international arbitrations was 36% of all new cases filed with the Arbitration Institute.
