In connection with the Finnish Business in Moscow event in Moscow on 20 October 2016, the Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce (FAI) and the Russian Arbitration Association (RAA) will hold a joint Morning Seminar on Arbitration as an Effective Means of Resolving Commercial Disputes Between Finnish and Russian Companies. On 7 October 2016 the Vilnius Court of Commercial Arbitration hosts its international conference Vilnius Arbitration Day 2016 bringing together arbitration experts from different jurisdictions. The panel discussions will emphasize on topics related to Extension of Arbitration Clause to Non-signatories, Costs of Arbitration and Parties’ Representatives Role in International Arbitration. The event will take place at Novotel Hotel in Vilnius.
The International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA) will hold its 8th Annual Arbitration Conference ‘Strategic Choices in International Arbitration’ in New York City on 6-8 October 2016. The FAI is proud to be one of the event’s sponsors. The Secretary General of the FAI, Heidi Merikalla-Teir, will participate in the conference as a panelist in a discussion headed ‘Choosing the arbitral institution and arbitration rules’. New York City Bar Association will serve as the conference venue.
Finland Chamber of Commerce arranges the third Finnish Arbitration Academy between 29 August 2016 – 12 December 2016. The Academy’s 10 modules aim to provide legal practitioners with experience and interest in arbitration with the necessary tools to effectively participate in arbitrations as counsel or arbitrators in accordance with current best practices and standards. Approx. 25 applicants will be accepted as participants in the Academy.
The next Baltic Arbitration Days will be held on 2 – 3 June 2016 in Riga, Latvia. During the Baltic Arbitration Days, international experts will deliver lectures, country reports and will participate in discussion panels on specific issues in relation to the two main conference topics “Relation between state courts and arbitral tribunals” and “Enforcement of arbitral awards”. The FAI Secretary General Heidi Merikalla-Teir will participate in the panel discussion on the topic “Relation between state courts and arbitral tribunals”.
