Topias Malkamäki has been appointed Legal Counsel to the FAI team as of 5 February 2024. As part of the FAI Secretariat, Topias will be responsible for carrying out the daily functions in the administration of arbitrations and mediations.
Welcome to the FAI, Topias! Could you share a bit about your interest in arbitration and your professional background?
“Thank you! My initial interest in arbitration started during my studies when I completed a course in dispute resolution, arbitration, and mediation. Alongside my studies, I worked as a Legal Trainee in a boutique law firm, assisting attorneys-in-law with various legal tasks, including arbitration. After graduating in December 2023, I saw an exciting new opportunity to work at the FAI to further enhance my knowledge of arbitration and decided to pursue it.”
What are your expectations of working at the FAI?
“I expect to gain extensive knowledge about the arbitration process and various legal disputes brought to the FAI. I also highly value the professionalism demonstrated by my co-workers and aspire to continue providing parties with high-quality service.”
