The FAI/FAA Arbitration Masterclass – Nordic Arbitration Edition is an advanced, interactive programme for experienced arbitration practitioners. The next edition will take place on 13–14 March 2026 at Hanaholmen, Helsinki.
Organised by the Finland Arbitration Institute and the Finnish Arbitration Association, the Masterclass builds on the success of the inaugural 2024 edition. It offers a unique opportunity to exchange perspectives, test approaches, and refine arbitral practice against the backdrop of the Nordic arbitration tradition in an engaging, peer-driven environment.
The Masterclass consists of four modules focusing on key stages of arbitral proceedings: independence and impartiality, case management, taking and evaluation of evidence, and decision-making.
In addition, the programme features a fireside chat with a distinguished Nordic arbitration leader, offering personal insights, reflections on her career, and lessons learned from decades in international practice.
The full programme can be downloaded here.
Participation in the Masterclass is limited to 25 participants to maintain an interactive and collegial setting.
The programme is open to experienced arbitration practitioners from the Nordic region and beyond who have practised dispute resolution for at least ten years and have notable experience serving as arbitrator in ad hoc or institutional proceedings.
Applications should be sent by email to masterclass@arbitration.fi and must include a CV and a brief personal statement outlining the applicant’s motivation and relevant experience. Admission decisions are based on an overall assessment of the application.
The application deadline is 9 December 2025. Selected participants will be notified after the deadline and contacted to provide their invoicing details.
The participation fee is EUR 1,750 (excl. VAT) and covers tuition and course materials, accommodation at Hanaholmen, the networking dinner on Friday, lunches and coffee breaks on both days, and breakfast on Saturday.
Once invoicing details have been received, participants will receive an invoice for the Masterclass, which must be paid within four weeks of the invoice date.
As participation is limited to a small group and confirmed well in advance, fees are generally non-refundable. In exceptional circumstances, the organisers may consider written requests for reimbursement on a discretionary basis.
