The FAI received in total 71 applications during the year 2023. The number of international cases represented approximately 35 per cent of the aggregate caseload.
As a new improved feature, the FAI statistics for the year 2023 show the median duration of FAI arbitrations:
- separately in cases where the arbitration ended in the rendering of the final award, and
- combined in all cases, i.e., including cases that ended in an order for the termination of the arbitration or a consent award.
The FAI statistics from the year 2023 show that FAI arbitration is an expeditious process. The median duration with the arbitral tribunal of an FAI arbitration under the Arbitration Rules ending in a final award was 8.9 months. Under the Expedited Rules the corresponding median duration was 3.1 months.
