The Finland Chamber of Commerce has appointed a new Chair and Vice Chair and a new member to the Board of the FAI. The changes will take effect as of 1 January 2026.
The current Vice Chair of the Board, Mika Hemmo, has been appointed Chair of the FAI Board. He is an attorney-at-law specialising in arbitration and a former Professor of Civil Law at the University of Helsinki. He has chaired the working group that prepared the reform of the Finnish Arbitration Act and regularly acts as an arbitrator.
The current Board Member Ulla Vuokila has been appointed Vice Chair. She is a partner at Avance and specialises in corporate and commercial litigation and arbitration. She regularly acts as an arbitrator and mediator.
Mikal Brøndmo has been appointed as a new member of the Board. He is a partner at Haavind and specialises in arbitration and litigation, with a focus on complex and international disputes, and regularly acts as an arbitrator. He has been recognised as a Thought Leader in Arbitration (2025) and Commercial Litigation (2025) by the Lexology Index.
At the same time, Heidi Merikalla-Teir will step down as Chair of the Board and conclude her term as a Board Member, and Jacob Møller Dirksen will conclude his term as a Board Member.
